Sustainable emergency aid

In spring 2020, the COVID-19 virus reached Indonesia and with it Bali. The situation in Bali escalated due to the overstretched government. Tourism came to a standstill. Shops, restaurants and local small businesses had to close.

This development was existential for the population from day one, as many people became unemployed. Thanks to our good relations with the local government in Karangasem/Jungutan, we were quickly able to offer additional assistance, which was greatly appreciated by the population.

In consultation with the responsible persons of NEXUBA Switzerland, our local staff offered the following additional services unbureaucratically from April 2020:

  • A seamstress sewed reusable protective masks for the nursing staff and vulnerable persons on a piecework basis.
  • Protective clothing was also sewn for the nursing staff of the district hospital.
  • Gloves and disinfectants were supplied and distributed free of charge, and the nursing staff were instructed in the proper use of the protective material.
  • Food parcels were regularly distributed to the hardest hit people (hungry, sick, old, etc.). A car was used to take these packages to the people in the remote villages.

Water supply in Mumbul

The population of Mumbul (Bali) and the 12 surrounding villages suffered from an acute water shortage. For a long time, the authorities had been looking for solutions for a better water supply.

People with disabilities

Since summer 2022, NEXUBA has also been supporting people with disabilities. These people have a particularly hard time in Indonesia if they do not have family members who understand their disability and take care of them.
